Do I need to book / enrol onto a course to attend?

Yes. You must book / enrol with the CITC on (08) 8301 4500 to attend any of our courses. For further information please visit our How to Enrol page.

If I complete the Registration of Interest form online, does that mean I have booked onto a course?

No it does not. You have only registered your interest in that course. You must speak to one of our Enrolments Officers on (08) 8301 4500 to book onto a course. For further information please visit our How to Enrol page.

How much does a training course cost?

All training course costs are on application.

How can I pay for my training?

Once you book onto a course you will be issued with a Tax Invoice for your training and you can pay via Cash, Visa or MasterCard, Cheque, Eftpos, Money Order, Direct Credit or by using our Payment Form online.

I have paid my deposit for a course, when will I get my refund?

Your refund will be processed within 14 days of receipt of the course paperwork by the CITC's General Manager.

How do I cancel or transfer from a Public course?

It’s a requirement that if you need to cancel from a public course or defer to a later course, you must contact the CITC within the time specified on your enrolment documents.

You may incur the full cost of the course if you don’t cancel in accordance with this requirement.

To cancel or defer from a course, you must telephone (08) 8301 4500 and speak to an Enrolments Officer.

How do I cancel a Corporate course?

If you have arranged a course specifically for your company and you need to cancel, you must contact the CITC office on (08) 8301 4500 and speak with a Scheduling Officer within the time frame specified in your confirmation letter. Failure to do so will incur an administration fee.

Are the CITC and the CITB a part of the same company?

No. We are entirely separate entities and are only connected by our business dealings.

The Construction Industry Training Centre (CITC) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that offers training outcomes to participants and companies throughout South Australia. 

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) collects revenue from Building and Construction work undertaken in South Australia. This revenue provides the subsidies for applicable training to those people who have a current CITB ID Number.

What is a CITB ID Number?

This is a number issued by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) for residents of South Australia who are employed in the building and construction industry and are eligible to apply for a CITB number. If deemed eligible you may receive subsidies towards training relevant to the industry. Please see the CITB Subsidies page for further information.

Please note that the CITB makes the decision as to who will be approved. The CITC has no jurisdiction in this matter.

How do I get a CITB ID Number?

You need to apply for a CITB ID Number via the Construction Industry Training Boards website at www.citb.org.au and follow the link on the homepage.

If approved, your CITB ID number will be available after 5 working days, and your CITB ID CARD in the mail in approximately 10 working days. This may be subject to change, please check the CITB website for further information.

Please note that the CITB makes the decision as to who will be approved. The CITC has no jurisdiction in this matter.

If my company has a CITB Number can I use that for booking people onto courses?

No. Each individual participant must have their own CITB ID Number and it must be current on the day of training.

Does the CITC offer Truck Training?

Yes. We offer Truck Training (Medium Rigid - Heavy Combination) but only if the participant has a current CITB ID number.

Do I have to be over 18 to train with the CITC?

No. However for licenced outcomes such as Dogging, Rigging, Hoists, Cranes, Elevated Work Platform, Forklift and Order-Picking Forklift SafeWork SA requires that a student must be 18 or over to be assessed for the purpose of obtaining a licence.

Also the Elevating Work Platform Association of Australia (EWPA) requires that a student be 18 or over to be assessed for Yellow Card (Scissor Lift) and Gold Card (Multi Purpose Tool Vehicle).

What are the numeracy and literacy requirements for CITC courses?

Sound literacy skills are required to pass all CITC courses with the exception of National White Card. Persons with English Language skill difficulties may bring an approved and accredited interpreter to White Card Courses.

For students to pass the Dogging course (and subsequent Rigging and Crane courses) a sound understanding of mathematics is highly recommended.

I (or my employee) have poor English language skills, can an interpreter come with me to the training?

The CITC will allow accredited and approved interpreters into National White Card courses. However it is the responsibility of the student or agent to arrange for the interpreter to attend the training and inform CITC office staff that the interpreter will be attending. Interpreters and translators are not allowed for other courses as the assessment requires the student to have sound English literacy. The student or agent will be required to meet the cost for this service.

Can I do the White Card online with the CITC?

No, the CITC offers the White Card course as a 6 hour classroom based face to face delivery course.

Can I do Rigging before I do Dogging?

No. You need to successfully complete and be deemed competent in the order of:

  1. Dogging
  2. Basic Rigging
  3. Intermediate Rigging
  4. Advanced Rigging

No. You need to successfully complete and be deemed competent in the order of:

  1. Basic Scaffolding
  2. Intermediate Scaffolding

I have lost my SafeWork SA licenced ticket for Dogging / Rigging / Scaffolding / Elevated Work Platform / Hoists / Cranes, who do I contact?

You will need to contact SafeWork SA on 1300 365 255. SafeWork SA will advise you on how to obtain a replacement licence.

I did not submit my paper work for a Licence to Perform High Risk Work within the 60 days of being assessed, what do I do?

You will need to contact SafeWork SA on 1300 365 255.

It is in your interest to submit the paperwork to SafeWork SA within the specified time to avoid any complications.

I need to convert my old SafeWork SA tickets to the new national licence for high risk work, what do I do?

You need to contact SafeWork SA on 1300 975 909.

What happens if I fail the assessment for a licenced outcome?

If you are deemed to be 'Not Yet Competent' then you will need to wait 21 days before you can resit another assessment.  By law you cannot fail an assessment at one RTO then be assessed for the same licence at another RTO the next week. There must be a minimum of 21 clear days (i.e. three weeks) between a fail and a re-assessment regardless of who reassess you.

What's the difference between an Elevated Work Platform course and a Yellow Card course?

An Elevated Work Platform = Boom lift over 11 metres (Licence from SafeWork SA issued for competent participants). Yellow Card = Boom or Scissor lift under 11 metres (Yellow Card Duty of Care ticket issued from the Elevating Work Platform Association (EWPA)).

When will I receive my Certificate of Attendance or Statement of Attainment for my training?

You will be issued with your Certificate of Attendance or Statement of Attainment within 7 days of the CITC office receiving the course paperwork from the trainer / assessor as long as you attended the entire course and or are assessed as Competent and the course has been paid for.
