  • 8 hours / 1 day (Face to Face)

  • 8:00am - 4:30pm or as required

 Course Objective:

  • To provide the learner with the skills and knowledge to use, fit and safely store breathing apparatus.

Course Content:

  • Types of respiratory protective devices (breathing apparatus) as per AS/NZS 1715 & 1716
  • Physical & mental aptitude
  • Calculation of cylinder duration
  • Donning starting up and testing procedures
  • Operational procedures
  • Recommissioning set for operation
  • Cleaning & storage

Assessment:

  • Theory Assessment
  • Practical Assessment

Course Award:

  • Statement of Attainment 

Course Prerequisites:

  • Participants must be clean shaven to be assessed as competent. Participants can participate in the training but where facial hair obstructs achieving a clean seal a Certificate of Attendance will be issued instead of a Statement of Attainment
  • Medically fit and able to wear full face mask
  • Basic English
  • Must be 17 years of age or over

Please Note:

  • Personal Protective Equipment to be worn e.g. Hard hat, safety footwear, high visibility vest/clothing
  • All students will need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to receive their certificates and or cards. About the CITB:

Short Course Training:

The objective of CITB’s Short Course Training program is to raise the level of skill in the construction industry workforce by engaging Eligible Persons in training and skill development activities. CITB facilitates training opportunities and endeavours to ensure that CITB funded training meets both quality standards and industry requirements.

Each financial year, Eligible Persons with an approved CITB number can obtain up to $3,000 of training subsidies off any CITB endorsed short course, with a CITB endorsed training provider.
To obtain the short course subsidises, an approved CITB number must be provided to the training provider upon enrolment.
