Course Objective:

  • This qualification reflects the role of individuals who coordinate and maintain the WHS program within an organisation. Individuals would possess a sound theoretical knowledge base and use a range of specialised, technical or managerial competencies to plan, carry out and evaluate their own work and the work of others with safety responsibilities.


BSBWHS502 - Manage effective WHS consultation and participation processes
BSBWHS503 - Contribute to the systematic management of WHS risk
BSBWHS504 - Manage WHS hazards and risks
BSBWHS505 - Investigate WHS incidents
BSBWHS506 - Contribute to developing, implementing and maintaining WHS management systems


BSBWHS507 - Contribute to managing WHS information systems
BSBWHS508 - Manage WHS hazards associated with plant
BSBWHS509 - Facilitate the development and use of WHS risk management tools
BSBWHS510 - Contribute to implementing emergency procedures

All 9 Core and Elective Units must be successfully completed to obtain your Diploma of Work Health and Safety - BSB51315.

Course Content:

  • The course outcomes would suit a WHS Manager, senior WHS practitioner or someone aspiring to a senior WHS role

Course Award:

  • BSB51315 -  Diploma of Work Health and Safety (Qualification) and Record of Results
  • In the case of partial completion, a Statement of Attainment will be issued for units of competency completed.

Course Prerequisites:

  • The 5 core units from Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety:
    • BSBWHS402 - Assist with compliance with WHS Laws
    • BSBWHS403 - Contribute to implementing & maintaining WHS consultation and participation processes
    • BSBWHS404 - Contribute WHS Hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control
    • BSBWHS405 - Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS management systems
    • BSBWHS406 - Assist with responding to incidents
  • Ability to use and understand basic English
  • Good literacy, computer and research skills is a distinct advantage
