  • 80 hours / 10 days (Face to Face, plus project work - up to 6 months)


  • 8:00am - 4:30pm

Course Objective:

This qualification applies to individuals working in a work health and safety (WHS) role who provide a broad range of technical knowledge and skills, and have some limited responsibility for the output of others.

The qualification applies to those working as supervisors, WHS personnel, and workers in other WHS-related roles who manage risks effectively, apply relevant WHS laws, and contribute to WHS within the workplace in known or changing contexts with established parameters.

Core Units:

BSBWHS412 - Assist with workplace compliance with WHS laws
BSBWHS413 - Contribute to implementation and maintenance of WHS consultation and participation processes
BSBWHS414 - Contribute to WHS risk management
BSBWHS415 - Contribute to implementing WHS management systems
BSBWHS416 - Contribute to workplace incident response

Elective Units:

BSBINS401 - Analyse and present research information
BSBWHS417 - Assist with managing WHS implications of return to work 
BSBWHS418 - Assist with managing WHS compliance of contractors 
BSBCMM411 - Make presentations
TAEDEL301 - Provide work skill instruction 

All 10 Core and Elective Units must be successfully completed to obtain your Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety - BSB41419.


  • The course will be progressively assessed for underpinning knowledge and at completion of formal instruction a cumulative assessment will occur.

Course Award:

  • BSB41419 - Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (Qualification) and Record of Results
  • In the case of partial completion, a Statement of Attainment will be issued for units of competency completed.

Course Requirements:

  • Ability to use and understand English
  • Good numeracy skills
  • Computer skills are essential (including an understanding of Microsoft Office)
  • Working knowledge of the WHS Act and Regulations

Course Note:

  • The CITC will supply each participant with a PC to use whilst in the classroom only. It is up to each participant to access/use their own PC/laptop when not within the classroom to study.
